So, how does your dog get your attention?
Betty uses various means and uses different ones for different people too.
If I’m lying on a bed – which I often do when I’m thinking through things or processing, if she wants my attention, she will jump up and stand on my chest with her nose centimetres away from mine.
If she thinks I’m asleep, she’ll either touch noses or gently lick mine to get attention – usually unnecessary by then, as she’s just planted two powerful forepaws firmly in my chest.
This doesn’t always happen though and I’ve been awoken from a daytime nap more than once or twice by a nose lick or opened my eyes to find a dog nose less than an inch from mine.
